Steve Traugott's Talks
News
  • Correction to February 3rd's San Francisco Chronicle article -- Steve Traugott was misquoted as saying a "larger sheet" of insulation had been installed on the shuttle system external tank. This makes no sense -- the tank insulation is sprayed on in a continuous layer covering virtually the entire tank. Steve's actual statement was that the Agency "changed the composition or application" of the foam insulation in order to reduce the popcorning that had been observed on previous flights.
  • Experimental Rocket Propulsion Society (ERPS) completed the KISS engine fabrication on August 5, 2001, and launched from Mohave desert on February 14, 2002. The Hydrogen-Peroxide powered vehicle reached an altitude of over 6000 feet on engine thrust of 250 pounds. TerraLuna is an ERPS sponsor.
